Sovereign citizens (or the free man on land movement here in Canada) are amusing to see on the internet, much less so in person.

oh god, Freeman are hilarious when they get some attention..

In 2010, he was pulled over for speeding and RCMP officers told a provincial court judge he refused to get out of his vehicle or recognize police authority.

More recently, Alexander spent several days in jail in 2016 on a contempt of court charge after turning his back on a judge and refusing to turn around at a driving-while-prohibited trial.

Alexander said he is still dealing with issues relating to the trial, where he was found guilty of driving while prohibited, but hopes to resolve those in 2018.

My company accidently let the registration expire on my company car, and I told my boss we could save money on a rental car by just taping a piece of cardboard with "Private Mode of Transportation" written on it over the plate. They wouldn't let me try it.

Oh those comments...

As long as you are a good boy and practice law the way they want you to, you get a license to practice law. If you may be so smart and go against the system, well then you will have your license to practice law taken away. There was a man named Irwin Schiff who was smart enough to realize there was no law to make a person pay personal income tax. They put him in jail for life. A lawyer that likes making good money, doesn’t take on cases that go against the system and will get him disbarred. If you know the law you as well as any attorney and you don’t have the chains of that license to be a lawyer on you, you can be a pain in the ass to the justice system. I guess they call this unethical conduct. Many a jail house lawyers can be a major pain in ass to the system such that the govt will take these individuals and put them in isolation and do other torture techniques to them to punish them.?

I’m no lawyer but it sounds like Mr. Schiff actually wasn’t that much of a smart man..

Question on driver’s license for those in an autonomous car? I would not then be in control of the vehicle.

Good question based on what Steve said. I think it’s pretty obvious what the answer would be, but good question.

Wait...we can’t use obscenities and insults???!!! THAT’S A VIOLATION OF MY FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!!! WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN????!!!!!

Hahahahah!

On the other hand, a license is NOT required to make up legal opinions based on nothing. I can’t quote the statute to back up my statement, so you should just trust me! I am not an attorney, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Excellent!

I mean, it doesn’t give the government the right to disallow it....

Though it’s a state issue, and they do have a little more authority on the day-to-day.  It’d depend on the wording of the state’s constitution and what power they give themselves.

In fact, I have had discussion with my more Libertarian friends over whether the government can take on itself powers not specifically granted to it in the document.  But, my understanding of history and the origin of the US government is that the whole idea was to give the states the power to regulate things not specifically granted by the US Constitution.  In other words, states’ rights were a bigger deal then than recent times.
